SARACENS HEAD, LLANSANNAN

Abergele and Pensarn Visitor, 14th August 1986

The Abergele and Pensarn Visitor of August 14th 1986 reported on a ghost at the Saracens Head in Llansannan.

A SPOOKY NIGHT IN ROOM NUMBER 6. THE PUB WITH ITS RESIDENT GHOST.

THERE was a rather unusual visitor to one pub in Abergele ares last week — a friendly ghost. The snesitive spook was reported to have popped in room no 6 at the Serecens Head pub, in Llansannan, where a man from Glasgow had spent the night. Mr. Peter Glover, who has been licensee at the pub for almost four years, said: "The man who stayed in room 6, was a perfect stranger, but the next day he started questioning my wife, Paula, if there had been any strange happenings in the room or if it was haunted."

He added: "He said he had seen a figure of a man appear from behind a book he was reading but when he put the book down the figure went, but reappeared when he picked the book up again. Over the years, I believe there have been stories of the pub being haunted but this is the first time a perfect stranger has ever reported anything to me, so I am sure he could not have heard of these stories in the past."

Mr. Glover said he had heard children's voices coming from room 6 at night and had been in the bar when the air suddenly went cold. Mr. Glover believes part of the pub dates back to the 12th century, and said: "I would be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced anything here or knows of anything strange that has happened in the past." He described room 6 as "a lovely room, complete with oak beams, but it does have an eerie feeling about it. I am sure this ghost must be friendly because there are no reports of him throwing things yet."
