SPECTRE GETS INTO SPIRIT OF SPOOKING
LOCALS of the Blue Lion pub in Cwm are used to seeing spirits behind the bar, but recent going-ons have been far from those of an alcoholic nature. With parts of the pub dating back to the 16th century, it is a prime spot for a spectre to do some wailing and chain rattling. But there have been sightings of a second ghost over the past few weeks. One of the staff Jane Pears saw a new ghost only a few days ago.
"I was walking up the stairs to another part of the restaurant when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It was stooped over and had something brown on," she
said. After running into the kitchen Jane realised that she had seen a ghost. "I was screaming, and all the hairs on my neck were standing up. When I told the others, two of them said that they had also seen this thing, but did not tell anyone about it as they were afraid of being laughed at."
Landlady Mrs Peggy Williams is surprised to hear that another ghost has been seen. "John Henry is our resident ghost although I have never seen him. I have often felt as if there was someone else here with us, but never thought it would be another ghost." She said that a book on Clwyd ghosts had a picture in it that matched the description that the staff had given. Maybe it is a monk from the monastery that used to be near the pub, doomed to eternal prayer. Or perhaps an old customer waiting for last orders to be called.
