I did the basic research for this blog series a couple of years ago. Then, as usual, flitted along to the next thing that caught my interest. Now I'm trying to flesh the cases out and present to you my justification for not being a fan of walking along the canal on dark and lonely nights...

Thomas Bevan was just four when he was found drowned in the Brecon and Abergavenny Canal in November 1839.

The Silurian of November 23rd 1839 reported:

On the same day [Wednesday last], at New Bridge, in the parish of Llanhamlach, before Thos. Batt, sq., on view of the body of Thomas Bevan, aged four years, who was found Drowned in the Brecon and Abergavenny Canal, on Tuesday morning. Verdict- Found Drowned; but by what means he became drowned doth not appear.
