I did the basic research for this blog series a couple of years ago. Then, as usual, flitted along to the next thing that caught my interest. Now I'm trying to flesh the cases out and present to you my justification for not being a fan of walking along the canal on dark and lonely nights...

The South Wales Daily News of November 26th 1900 reported:
FOUND IN THE CANAL. DEATH OF A CARDIFF WOMAN.
About noon on Sunday the body of Elizabeth Gregory, late of 70, Frederick-Street, was found in the Glamorganshire Canal. The deceased woman, who was 41 years of age, had been missing from her home since the 18th inst.
