Feature on package holidays to Milford Haven for UFO enthusiasts, 1978 - clip is from the ITV Wales archive aka Harlech TV:
The best view they got of a UFO. Their guide and commentator, retired vet but active ufologist Randall Pugh who’s researched the 100 plus Dyfed sightings.
[Randall Pugh] There is no possible way of it being a hoax. The phenomenon exists. The one thing which the skeptic and the cynic cannot be found accountable for is the question of the effects of UFO proximity on animals. A stark naked fear.
[David Davies, talking about 04/02/77 sighting] Well, it had the clear cigarette shape with the dome on top of that and a small red light on top of the dome…
The scare really started a year ago when Broad Haven school children saw a spaceship land near their playground. The spotters didn’t spot anything as exciting, but they did hear of the strange goings on at Ripperston Farm Dale. Mrs Coombs has seen things disappear into St Bride’s Bay and watched flying silver and orange balls pass her farm.
[Pauline Coombs, talking about 23/04/77 sighting] And then after that came the silver suited man which was the most terrifying experience of it all. (Where did he appear?) In my window, by where those people are standing now. He was about seven feet tall and the width of the window, which is three feet wide, and he was there for about two hours.
Worldwide, UFOs favour military and industrial complexes. But in the Dyfed triangle, sewage farms are popular too. That’s where Mark Marston was chased by a humanoid.
[Mark Marston, talking about 15/04/77 sighting] This thing got out the hedge and it jumped over - jumped over this gate and there was something, like, wrong about it. No man could jump that gate.
From Birmingham, Bristol, Taunton and Abertillery, why did they come?
[unnamed male holiday maker] The opportunity to meet people who’ve actually seen UFOs themselves, and to talk with them and discuss with them. (Have you seen a UFO?) No, I’ve never been fortunate - or unfortunate - enough. (Would you describe yourself as a believer?) Um, well, I’m not a skeptic.
[unnamed female holiday maker - welsh accent so presumably from Abertillery] I thought this was the chance to come and be able to chat with people that do believe in the same as I do, you know. (Have you seen something yourself?) Yes. (What?) Er, two, like, silver balls zigzagging through the skies. [if this sighting is fully recorded it’s probably through BUFORA and Randall Pugh?]
(Aren’t you cashing in on the phenomenon?) [Unnamed lady - possibly Rosa Glanville of the Haven Fort Hotel] Not at all, we’re merely offering an extra facility to people to be able to come down here and show them round.
Gerard, you’re from Paris, France, and you’ve come over and taken a job here just to study UFOs. Why was that?
[Gerard] I came down here just to try and know a lot more about it. (And do you know a lot more about it now?) Not yet, but it will come, I’m sure.
